Using the latest technology in gradiometers
EGS offers its worldwide expertise in UXO detection
surveys to port authorities, Oil & Gas companies, cable installers,
dredgers, offshore contractors prior to any offshore operations.
Unexploded ordnance or UXOs are explosive weapons that did not explode when they were employed and still pose a risk of detonation, potentially many decades after they were used or discarded. Numerous UXOs are still present in Europe, Australia, the Middle East and South East Asia from WWII, the Vietnam War or the Iraqi Wars and poses problems cable & pipeline installations, dredging or offshore construction works.
EGS offers its worldwide expertise in UXO detection surveys to port authorities, Oil & Gas companies, cable installers, dredgers, offshore contractors prior to any offshore operations in areas where UXOs are still present.
EGS uses the latest technology in gradiometers, proton magnetometers as well as caesium magnetometers in conjunction with high resolution side scan sonars to carry out UXO detection surveys.
UXOs varies greatly in shapes and sizes, they can range from small
ammunitions to large sea mines. There material and composition also
vary greatly , therefore high sensitivity sensors are needed to detect
EGS uses high sensitivity sensors which have been proven to work on the field. EGS owns and carries all necessary spare parts for the following sensors:
Furthermore, EGS simultaneously deploys a high resolution digital side
scan sonar (i.e. Edgetech DF-1000) and a very high resolution multibeam
echosounder (i.e. Reson SeaBat 8125 or Simrad EM3002D) in order to
improve detection rate.
EGS provides UXO detection services in water depth ranging from 2m to over 100m. EGS provides innovative solutions to guarantee high accuracy positioning of the sensors in extremely shallow waters. EGS has developed a proprietary algorithm enabling visualization of unprecedented high resolution data.
Additionally, EGS can also provided archival research services and desktop studies prior to survey operations to minimize time on site and optimize survey efficiency.
EGS has already acquired a strong experience in the field of UXO detection offshore and has carried out detection surveys in the South Pacific, Australia and Iraq.
UXO Survey - Vietnam
The co-operation and working relationship between all parties during all phases of this project has been a text book example of how to conduct survey operations etc.Holland, Geoff
I just wanted to take the opportunity presented by the end of survey data acquisition activities to say thank you and well done on the excellent performance of the EGS team through the execution of the works to date. Whilst I’m mindful that there is still much to do in terms of tide gauge recovery, data processing and deliverable preparation – the performance of all personnel involved to date from EGS and Broadsword has been exemplary and particularly, the professionalism and attention to detail of the site team. It’s also been particularly pleasing to see this complicated and challenging scope completed in such a competent and hassle-free manner.Rhys Jones
I would like to thank you for this excellent survey. Your team was professional and knowledgeable. It was a pleasure to work with them.Philippe Hubert
On behalf of TOTAL E&P PNG and InterOil, we would like to express our gratitude for the efficient operation of the survey as well as safe and timely return to Port Moresby. It was a pleasure working with you all on the ground. We wish you all the best in your future endeavors.Anton A Safronov
