EGS have expanded their survey vessel fleet with the addition of the coastal vessel ‘EGS Echo’. The Echo is a 15m purpose-built aluminium hulled catamaran, incorporating a deck crane, davits, side mounts and a moonpool with a retractable transducer mount to maximise capabilities. The vessel provides a stable work platform and propulsion has been designed to provide both high speeds for transits and low speeds for survey work.
‘EGS Echo’ will service contracts in the UK and northern Europe. She is fitted out with a full suite of the latest state of the art survey equipment enabling the vessel to perform geophysical surveys and met ocean studies. The survey spread is permanently installed but the moonpool and mountings have been designed to accept a range of transducers, allowing all technical specifications to be met. EGS has recently purchased the Norbit iWBMS to compliment their Kongsberg and Reson multibeam echosounder systems currently used for coastal activities. The EGS Echo will be undertaking her first O&M windfarm survey in the Irish Sea within the next month.
